The second CSU visit is finished today

The second CSU visit is finished today. After the sites-visit of yesterday in Caserta and Salerno, today was the day of meeting with the Organising Committee.
“Since my last visit,” CSU president Leonz Eder said, “the there has been a great deal of visible progress and more staff.
Many operating areas are improving and the organization is moving forward. Challenges remain but there has been good progress.” Eder is in Naples to assess the works done in the city and the surrounding Campania region ahead of the student games. Alongside other CSU members, Eder visited some of the sports facilities under renovation.
“Naples,” he said, “is a very sports-friendly city. All of the facilities necessary for the Games are there and they are important. For many of these, renovation work was to be done that has started and a final sprint will be needed for everything to be ready in time for the Universiade. The sports facilities will later constitute the legacy that the Universiade will leave the cities of Naples, Salerno and Caserta and the entire Campania region. After the event, there will be many more sports facilities able to be used by citizens and students.” The supervisors also visited some of the facilities that will host the athletes.
“It is good news,” Eder said, “that there are two cruise ships for the (athletes) village. There are also hotels and we visited some of them. The only doubt is linked to the fact that we do not know exactly when the people will arrive and thus stock will be taken closer to the inauguration of the Universiade.”
To receive the CSU the Special commissioner for the Universiade, Gianluca Basile, and the General Coordinator, Adam Sotiriadis.
The special commissioner on Thursday said that he was pleased about a visit ahead of the event by the Summer Universiade Supervision Committee (CSU). He added that they saw the acknowledgement by the CSU, part of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), of the progress made in preparations as “stimulus to move forward with passion”.
“Now the time has come to focus on services to make us ready for July,” he said after the two-day visit in the Campania region. “We are at the final efforts,” Basile said. “Now we must concentrate on the services and not just the facilities. To this end, we are waiting for the outcome of competitions underway for broadcasting, TV, transportation and volunteers. I would also like to underscore the collaboration that we are receiving from all the local bodies involved. I would here like to highlight the closeness shown by the superintendent for Fine Arts of the Naples municipality, Luciano Garella, and that of the Campania director of the state properties agency Edoardo Maggini.”
The general coordinator of the Unievrsiade 2019, Adam Sotiriadis, said that his main concern was the “unity of all the parties involved”. “These events need all those taking part to focus on the same objectives. We have a problem of time, which is suffocating us but we are optimistic”.
